Dowcraft has designed and fabricated movable unitized steel walls since 1934. Originally known as Jamestown Steel Partition Company, Dowcraft assumed its present name in 1961, when it was purchased by its employees. When the venture began operating as Dowcraft, it continued to manufacture custom moveable metal partitions. There were 29 employees on the payroll that first year. Within a few years, Dowcraft increased its sales and work force, improved its traditional product, and diversified into other metal specialties.
